IN ITS 6TH YEAR, VODAFONE’S RAMZAN CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE TO SPREAD HAPPINESS AND FOSTER THE SPIRIT OF GIVING

Vodafone continues with its tradition of celebrating Ramzan by embracing the ‘spirit of giving’ associated with the holy month and organising Iftaar for its customers and associates in the Valley. This time again Vodafone will donate 1 paisa on every call and recharge made by customers in Kashmir province towards the education of underprivileged children throughout the holy month of Ramzan. Additionally, Vodafone will also contribute Rs 5 against every new activation in Kashmir province during Ramzan.

All proceeds will go towards the education of underprivileged Kashmiri children. Vodafone has so far donated over INR 30.5 lakh towards this noble cause under the initiative, which is now in its sixth year.

Vodafone’s Iftaar celebrations, a part of its ‘Gift-A-Smile’ initiative, is all about sharing happiness among its customers in the Valley by offering them dates and juice when they walk into any Vodafone Store or Mini-Store in Kashmir during the entire month of Ramzan. The customers can have these dates and juice when they break their fast in the evening.

Vodafone is also hosting ‘Iftaar’ get-togethers for distributors, retailers, channel partners and its own employees in Kashmir by organising the traditional Kashmiri Wazwan for them at multiple locations.

Extending Ramzan greetings to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Arvind Nevatia, Business Head, Punjab, HP and J&K, Vodafone India, said, “As an organisation that cares for customers, channel partners, employees and the society at large, Vodafone feels proud and privileged to celebrate the spirit of Ramzan through its ‘Gift-A-Smile’ initiative, which is now in its sixth year. Vodafone has so far donated INR 30.5 lakh for the education of underprivileged children in the Valley. Please remember that every call you make on Vodafone network, every Vodafone recharge you undertake and each new activation throughout Ramzan, will add to our donations to the noble Vodafone ‘Gift-A-Smile’ cause.”

The funds raised through ‘Gift-A-Smile’ initiative will be donated by Vodafone to Sakhawat Centre run by Iqbal Memorial Trust, an NGO in Srinagar that works for the education of underprivileged children in Kashmir. Under this programme, Vodafone had earlier donated laptops to the Sakhawat Centre for promoting computer literacy among underprivileged children.

As part of its overall Ramzan initiatives in Kashmir, Vodafone has also set up Ramzan-specific welcome gates outside Vodafone stores and Mini Stores in Kashmir as well as other high footfall locations for wishing ‘Ramzan Mubarak’. Banners, posters and wall wraps can be seen across the markets in Kashmir (North/South/Central), wishing Ramzan Mubarak and appealing people to join Vodafone’s Gift-a-Smile initiative so that the telecom service provider can contribute towards the education of underprivileged children in Kashmir. Vodafone has also created a short code, 51786, under the initiative. Vodafone customers can now call on this number to get detailed information about the initiative.
