BSH Home Appliances, subsidiary of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH, the global leader in premium home appliances, shares insights from MD & CEO Mr. Saif Khan on rising cooling appliance demand amid intensifying heatwaves and growing preference for premium, energy-efficient solutions.

Mr. Saif Khan, MD & CEO, BSH Home Appliances

“As India faces increasingly intense and prolonged heatwaves, we are seeing a dual impact on the cooling category – accelerated consumer purchases and a surge in shift toward premium, energy-efficient cooling solutions. This is reflected in our first quarter performance in 2026, where the cooling segment recorded a strong double-digit volume growth, while our top-freezer category delivered its highest-ever quarterly performance with close to 50% year-on-year increase. At BSH, we are approaching this not just as a seasonal spike, but as a category-building opportunity. We will have our full-stack presence in the category this summer offering products that set new benchmarks in storage capacity. Our expanding portfolio spans multiple formats and price points, offering India-tailored refrigeration solutions across Bosch and Siemens. We expect the strongest traction in higher-capacity segments such as frost-free inverter models, Cross- door Side-by-Side, bottom freezers, built-in premium refrigerators, in line with the ongoing premiumisation trend. At the same time, categories like top freezers and single-door refrigerators continue to see steady uptick in demand across markets.

While we continue to navigate input cost pressures driven by global supply dynamics and currency movements leading to calibrated price adjustments from April, our focus remains firmly on driving sustainable, long-term growth. With our ‘Make-in-India for India’ strategy, deepening localisation, and a portfolio aligned to evolving consumer needs we are well positioned to stay competitive and drive a sustained growth momentum in summer.”
