BWTech is a leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specialised in the telecom products including power banks, chargers, cables, neckbands etc. During an interaction with Mobility Magazine, Ms. Nikita Kumawat, Managing Director, BWTech, discusses about the way manufacturing activities in India are accelerating, the significance and benefits of Make in India.

What is your take on manufacturing in India?

The manufacturing industry in India is growing by leaps and bounds and is set to reach new levels in the next couple of years. The government has undertaken steps like production-linked incentives (PLI), which have accelerated the process of incentivizing manufacturing and growth.

What steps should the government undertake to boost manufacturing?

It will take some amount of time for India to become a manufacturing hub. However, we have seen a lot of progress in recent years in terms of providing the right strategies, reducing approvals and bureaucracy, and introducing new incentive schemes. The government had earlier expressed optimism that initiatives such as PLI would help in making India a competitive destination for electronics manufacturing and offer a fillip to Atmanirbhar Bharat. I believe that the government should also take steps to emphasise on improving multi-modal connectivity and strengthening India’s logistics. This will be a great and positive step towards increasing the country’s competitiveness and ensuring a sustained electronic manufacturing system in India.

What are the areas that you specialize in?

We offer wide-ranging, comprehensive, and unified technological products and solutions to OEMs and our global customers. We are able to provide employment opportunities to thousands through our manufacturing plants and follow industry-compliant and safety-compliant manufacturing practices to deliver quality and excellence in every product.

India can be a manufacturing hub. Elucidate your opinions.

Manufacturing represents one of the greatest opportunities for India, not only to spur economic growth but also for job creation and innovation. The Government of India has set an ambitious target of increasing the contribution of manufacturing output to 25% of GDP by 2025, from the current 16%.

The government of India has received three silicon fab and two display fab proposals, along with other proposals under other schemes, and is yet to select and approve proposals. Mr. Ashwini Vaishaw, Minister for Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, has already said that the government is in the process of finalizing the matter.

Describe BWtech’s role in the Indian manufacturing scenario?

Taking the road ahead we plan to come up with more innovative products in the market. We plan to resurrect in contributing to our nation’s economic growth and pursue this mission by supporting the vision of Atmanirbhar India through ‘Make in India’ project.
