DoT’s CEIR service to report lost/stolen mobile phones

CEIR serves as a common mechanism for all network operators to exchange data on blacklisted mobile devices, ensuring that devices blacklisted in one network will not work on another, even if the SIM card in the device is replaced.

CEIR is not the same as Google’s Find My Device. To use the Find My Phone function, your phone or tablet must be powered on, signed in to a Google Account, connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi, visible on Google Play, and have Location and ‘Find My Device’ turned on. Conversely, the CEIR uses only the IMEI number to hunt down a lost or stolen mobile phone. The portal will collect data from telecom operators around the country, so there would be no need to log in with an active internet connection or an ID.
