HONOR recently announced the launch of its first ever flagship series in India the HONOR 20 series. Under the HONOR 20 series they launched three new smartphones – HONOR 20 PRO, HONOR 20, and HONOR 20i.
We got a chance to review and experience the new Honor 20i which is an yet another affordable mid-range smartphone from Honor . The new Honor 20i is also targeted to cater the increasing demand for performance to photography.
Look and Feel:
As the first member in the Honor 20 series, the Honor 20i sports an appearance that would definitely appeal to mellanials. It sports an extra large 6.21-inch display and adopts a three-sided narrow bezel design, which paves the way for the 90+% screen ratio the display offers. Housed in a compact body, the Honor 20i is a great choice for people who prefer operating their mobile phones using one hand. Touted as a “self-timer artifact,” the front-mounted 32MP sensor is beautifully blended into the pearl screen design, without eliminating the hidden earpiece.The appealing body behind the glare is yet another aspect that’s likely to grab your attention. The phone comes in Phantom Red, Phantom Blue, and Midnight Black color options.
Camera & Performance:
On the photography front, it houses a 32MP AI selfie camera along with the AI Backlight Imaging technology and Screen Ring Light Filling technology, is all you need to capture great pictures in any light. Phone’s triple lens rear camera comes with tons of features, such as the AI Multi-scene Recognition ensure that you get to click stunning images, anywhere.
HONOR 20i comes with a powerful triple camera setup. The primary rear camera features a 24MP sensor to capture everything exactly as users see it with their eyes. The secondary camera uses an 8MP ultra-wide lenses with 120° field of view. The third 2MP camera is a depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera gets a 32MP; sensor with f/2.0 aperture for great looking selfies. The AI-enabled camera is capable of recognizing over 500 scenes in 22 categories, automatically applying the best settings to the perfect shot. Based on the AI-powered algorithm, the camera can enhance the subject’s face and the background by modifying the exposure time and applying colour adjustment according to different scene types, creating professional-grade films.
The camera UI is neat and you can easily toggle between Aperture, Night, Portrait, and Advanced settings. Apart from the Pro, Panorama, and the HDR mode; the camera also supports Time Lapse, AR lens, and other features. However, there is no slow motion recording feature available.This 4G-enabled phone is backed by a 3400mAh battery. The dual VoLTE Honor 20i runs EMUI 9.0 system based on Android 9 Pie OS.
We had lag-free experience with this device in our day to day tasks as well as games, it is powered by the Kirin 710 processor. This is a premium mid-range chipset which powers some popular smartphones such as Huawei P30 Lite, Honor 10 Lite, and Huawei Nova 3i among others. With 4 GB RAM and an internal memory of 128 GB, plus using the hybrid SD card slot, you can expand the storage to up to 512GB to let you store all your files in one place. This phone, with the EMUI 9.0 operating system, will pave the way for a user-friendly smartphone experience. The company also promised Android Q update for all its 20 series phones.
Verdict: HONOR 20i is packed with delightful photography capabilities, like you can capture ultra-wide photos, which is capable of 120-degree shots, makes it a value for money contender in this price segment. Superior design, and battery life make it more worthy.
