Intel Corporation is all set to present Safehack – the curtain raiser for hackathon campaign, to strengthen women safety in India. With an aim to create a real impact in the society, Safehack will engage coders from all over India to develop an app for women’s safety. The event is being organized by Crosshairs Communications, a top tier agency specializing in public relations and social media. Safehack is an opportunity where participants across the nation will come together and compete for developing innovative mobile app solutions promoting safety for girls and women. The idea behind the campaign is to raise awareness about woman’s safety and encourage participation from developers, engineers and coders across India. The campaign is also supported by Chime for Change, founded by Gucci in US.

Shri Narayana Murthy, Founder of Infosys, extended his support to this initiative with his encouraging words. He said, “Safehack is an important step in empowering women and motivating app developers to work for the social good. It will be interesting to see how these hackers will merge skills and technology to build an innovative enterprise app.”As a token of appreciation, Shri Narayana Murthy will also meet the members of top three winning teams sometime after the event.

Speaking about the Safehack, Debjani Ghosh, Vice President Sales & Marketing Group, Managing Director, South Asia, Intel, said,“India can achieve truly inclusive growth only if women partake in the national building agenda and contribute actively to the nation’s economic growth.”

The Safehack drive has also been given the big thumbs up from ace Bollywood actor and UN goodwill ambassador, South Asia, Farhan Akhtar. He said, “Getting coders from all over India to come together and develop a women safety app can be a very daunting task. However, it’s imperative to address this compelling issue and hence, I am happy to extend my complete support for this social cause. The participation in this Hackathon will not only demonstrate the potential of Indian tech persons, but also turn ideas into tangible solutions leading to a positive social impact.”

Stuti Jalan, Founder of Crosshairs Communication, says “The event will bring together inventors and designers, thinkers and makers, local problem solvers and tech luminaries at one platform. I have to thank our supporters and partners who have come forward to give wings to our ideas. The wonderful people at Intel, ISDI, HackerEarth, KAZO and many others are the real force behind this humble endeavor.”
