Mahindra & Mahindra has received an overwhelming response for its new electric SUVs—XEV 9e and BE 6. On the first day of bookings, the company secured 30,179 reservations, worth Rs 8,472 crore at ex-showroom prices.
Huge demand for Mahindra’s Electric SUVs
Mahindra started taking bookings for these two models on Friday. The company’s chairman, Anand Mahindra, shared the achievement on social media, saying, “Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs create a new record in the EV category by clocking 30,179 bookings on Day 1 with a booking value of Rs 8,472 crore (at ex-showroom price).”
Which model got more bookings? Out of the total bookings, 56% were for the XEV 9e, while 44% were for the BE 6. The most popular variant was the top-end Pack Three, which comes with a 79 kWh battery. It accounted for 73% of the total bookings.
Price and EV market growth
The two models are priced between Rs 18.9 lakh and Rs 30.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With the growing popularity of electric vehicles in India, Mahindra’s latest launch is expected to further boost the EV market. Last year, electric car sales in India reached around 1 lakh units.
