The central government has received 70 applications under its electronic component manufacturing scheme, with 80% of the applicants being Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This development marks a pivotal moment for the country’s manufacturing ecosystem, with far-reaching implications for domestic capability building, job creation, and self-reliance in electronics.
The Government of India has introduced several initiatives to promote domestic electronics manufacturing, including the Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS) and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
At the state level, Uttar Pradesh (UP) has emerged as a pivotal player in India’s electronics manufacturing sector, contributing significantly to the nation’s goal of achieving self-reliance in electronics production. The state government is aiming to position Uttar Pradesh as most preferred state for Electronics Manufacturing Industry in India through creating a provide conducive, industrial friendly, sustainable and proactive hassle-free environment for ESDM Companies within the State.
