SEMICON India 2024 – Reflection of Ambitious stride towards India becoming a global Semiconductor hub

Indiaís electronics manufacturing industry is on a rapid growth trajectory, with a target to reach $500 billion in local manufacturing by FY30. The industryís growth has been remarkable, with production increasing from Rs 1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs 9.52 lakh crore in 2023-24, marking an annual compounded growth rate of 17.4%.

This time the issue also covers, SEMICON India 2024, the prestigious event that was held at India Exposition Mart Ltd. (IEML) in Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, had brought together global semiconductor industry leaders, policy makers, innovators, and academics to engage in critical discussions aimed at strengthening Indiaís position in the global semiconductor ecosystem. The three-day event has off ered valuable insights into innovations and trends in key areas such as smart manufacturing, supply chain management, sustainability, and workforce development.

At the state level, this monthís focus is on Haryana. The state government has introduced various policies aimed at attracting investments in the electronics sector. The Haryana Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) Policy 2017 is one such initiative, off ering a wide range of incentives to manufacturers. Additionally, the policy aims to develop Haryana as a leading global hub for electronics design and manufacturing by 2025.
