Mr. Mukesh Gupta, President, MMDA, addressed the audience highlighting the importance of unity among retailers, distributors, and associations for a stronger industry. Speaking passionately about the newly formed MMDA & Mobility initiative, Mr. Gupta said that bringing together all stakeholders—retailers, distributors, and associations—is crucial for addressing industry challenges and driving meaningful change. “Our ideology has always been to work together and support every link in the chain—from brand to distributor, retailer, and ultimately the consumer,” he explained.
He highlighted the efforts of Shri Praveen Khandelwal (MP), Founder & Secretary-General of CAIT, in creating a more balanced ecosystem for offline and online sales. Thanks to these initiatives, pricing has become more transparent, reducing confusion for customers and fostering fairness across channels. Mr. Gupta emphasized that collaboration is key to industry growth. By uniting various associations and stakeholders, they can address challenges like cashback schemes, MDR charges, and pricing gaps. He also encouraged other retailers and distributors to actively participate, ensuring that Mumbai—and eventually the wider market—benefits from a coordinated approach.
“The mobile industry has grown thanks to the efforts of countless individuals over the years. Sitting idle is not an option. By working together, we can strengthen our ecosystem, bring innovation to the forefront, and grow collectively,” Mr. Gupta concluded.
