Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced the appointment of O.H. (Oh Hyung) Kwon as senior vice president and president of Asia-Pacific (APAC). Kwon will now oversee the entire APAC region outside of China and India. Kwon’s appointment will be effective immediately and he will continue to report to Jim Cathey, Senior Vice President, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc and SVP of Qualcomm Global Business Operations.
Kwon joined Qualcomm in 2007 as Regional Sales Manager for Korea and has played an important role in driving Qualcomm’s mobile, compute, infrastructure, RF Front-End, connectivity, IoT and automotive businesses at key accounts in the region. In 2012, Kwon joined QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies (Korea) YH where he served as senior director of Mobile and IoT Sales, and vice president of Sales. He then was appointed vice president QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies (Korea) YH and president of Qualcomm Korea in 2019. During his recent position, Kwon has built strong sales and CE (Customer Engineering) organizations that are supporting an expanding customer base and broadened technologies portfolio, navigated the supply environment and enhanced product marketing and carrier relation capabilities within Qualcomm Korea.
“O.H. has built extremely strong sales and CE organizations within Qualcomm Korea that are driving premium mobile experiences, setting new industry performance benchmarks in the global mobile communication market with key customers, and creating a leading platform for the entire product portfolio across all QCT Business Units,” said, Jim Cathey. “I look forward to working with him in his expanded role to take advantage of the strong demand across all our technologies as they enable the digital transformation of industries.”
Prior to Qualcomm, Kwon amassed great expertise as an international OEM sales expert, holding leadership positions as Vice President and General Manager for the U.S. and Latin America at Yiso/Growell, overseas sales manager for LG Electronics for the U.S. and Japan, and handset vendor manager at Sprint Nextel. Kwon holds an MBA with a focus on technology management from the University of Phoenix, and a bachelor’s degree from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. He serves as the Vice Chair, Board of Directors of American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM Korea).
