realme announced that it has become India’s No. 2 brand with the highest ever market share of 18% in the past two years (Counterpoint Research). realme has achieved a new milestone by becoming the youngest, standalone brand to accelerate to the Top 2 position in the Indian smartphone industry, within just three years of inception. Continuing its superiority on online channels, realme became the no. 1 brand on Flipkart with a market share of 52% and was among the Top 2 Online smartphone brands with a 27% market share.
The Indian smartphone industry witnessed steady growth in smartphone shipments during the month of October. Xiaomi (inclusive of one independent brand POCO with 2.7% market share) stood at 20%, followed by Samsung and Vivo at 16% and 13% respectively.
The achievement compliments realme’s firm grasp and popularity among Indian consumers, and challenges other incumbents in the Indian smartphone industry. With continued momentum, realme is poised to redefine the pecking order, and emerge as the No. 1, independent smartphone brand in 2022.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Madhav Sheth, CEO realme India, VP, realme and President, realme International Business Group said, “This rapid growth is a testament to the brand and evidence of our consumers’ love for us. We have always focused on bringing the best of technology to our consumers with cutting edge technology and trendsetting designs, and we have been delivering on it successfully. 2021 has been a year of milestones for realme and this win is another feather in our hat. With our ‘Dare to Leap’ spirit and individuality, we will continue to challenge the existing status quo and prove leadership time and again. Our aim for 2022 is to be the No. 1 smartphone brand in India, and this milestone is just another steppingstone to realize that vision.”
