Galaxy S6, Samsung’s top-end smartphone launched in India just three months ago (at Rs 49,999), can now be purchase for less than Rs 40,000, as per market sources.
The 32GB variant of Samsung Galaxy S6 is being sold by Amazon and Flipkart for under Rs 40,000. The smartphone’s price tag which had been hovering around Rs 42,000 for the past few weeks, now for the first time dipped below Rs 40,000.
Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, on the other hand, still costs above Rs 50,000.
Apple’s 16GB version of iPhone 6 can also be purchased for approximately Rs 43,000, while iPhone 16 Plus’s base model costs around Rs 51,000.
Samsung Galaxy S6 sports 5.1-inch SuperAMOLED screen (1440x2560p resolution), making it the smartphone with the high pixel density. The 64-bit 2.1GHz octa-core Exynos 7 processor based on 14nm process makes Galaxy S6 and S6 edge 35% faster than the predecessor, Galaxy S5.
With Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Samsung has moved away from the industry-standard DDR3 RAM to DDR4 RAM, which help boost running memory by up to 80%. The two smartphones will come with faster flash storage that reduces lag between actions significantly; the company is offering the two smartphones in 32, 64GB storage variants in India, with no microSD storage option.
