Staunch is a consumer electronics brand that has a presence in India and International markets across the following categories: Audio Equipment, Mobile Accessories, Personal Grooming and Home Appliances.
During an interaction with Mobility Magazine, Mr. Kartik Agarwal, CEO of Staunch talks about the focus areas of the brand and the strategic steps undertaken to boost manufacturing in India.
I. What are the focus areas of the company?
We are in the business of engineering, developing, and manufacturing high-quality lithium-ion batteries and battery systems to serve the growing demands of electric vehicles (EV), electrified transportation, and motive, industrial, and commercial markets.
We are also engaged in offering services ranging from market entry to sales, and thereby empower our partner brands to focus on their strengths, making great products and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
We are into manufacturing consumer products like accessories and Lithium-ion batteries. Looking at Batteries, we cater to various types of applications such as Toys, Neckbands, Smartwatch, TWS, Mobile Phones, Power Banks etc. As we escalate to bigger manufacturing, we cater to electric vehicles, inverters, storage units, UPS, traction, and solar lights.
II. How do you promote Make in India?
Going local has always been the motto of Staunch. Our focus is to do OEM for brands in India who plan to sell products under their brand name. We want to help them procure the material locally and lead the global transition of lithium batteries.
Staunch has set up a top-class manufacturing facility spread across 50,000 sq. ft., which is equipped with multiple production lines and extreme operational efficiencies. Our facility is ISO certified and complies with BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards), ROHS, and CE standards. Our aim is to serve the growing demands of electric vehicles (EV), electrified transportation, solar, industrial, and other commercial markets. The company caters to and co-invests with national and global brands across various categories such as IoT, Small & Large Appliances, Audio & Accessories, Mobiles etc. to enable access to the Indian market.
III. Opportunities are there in Make in India. Cite your opinion.
There are immense opportunities in Make in India. When it comes to lithium batteries, Make in India has a huge opportunity. The government is supporting and has given a policy to make lithium-ion cells also in India, which were completely imported from other countries.
There are a lot of opportunities in the vehicle segment as well as the government has implemented a lot of policies to boost electric vehicles. As we know EV’s are coming up in a huge way, the storage market is also changing. In a few years, it shall be shifted to lithium-ion batteries, which are currently dependent on lead acid batteries.
IV. How do you position your brand?
We have a strong and experienced team. With Lithium products, we take pride in our commitment to a better environment. As a home-grown manufacturing company, it’s in our DNA to develop and manufacture high-quality products and lithium-ion batteries.
The team comes with a deep understanding of high-voltage, automotive-grade battery systems, from concept development and prototyping to testing and validation, straight through to high-volume production. With years of expertise in high voltage battery production, Staunch is offering cutting-edge products.
V. What according to you are the touch points for the growth of Staunch?

VI. What is the emerging scope of lithium batteries?
Lithium batteries are used mainly in vehicles and storage. Electric vehicles have taken a fast turn and are bound to grow by leaps and bounds. The storage segment is also supposed to grow.
The country’s plan to boost the national battery manufacturing capacity is expected to drive the market in the coming years. The demand for lithium in India is driven by the nation’s vision to become one of the largest markets for the manufacturing of electronic goods, which is linked to the creation of lithium-ion batteries, especially in smartphones and electric vehicles.
VII. What are the future plans- innovations that you are likely to come up with, turnover, etc.
Apart from our existing offerings of Multimedia Speakers, Lithium-ion Batteries, Power banks and Data Cables, we have recently started manufacturing Neckbands for our OEM customers and plan to offer Smartwatch, BT Speakers and TWS as well in the near future.
