During an exclusive interaction with Mobility Magazine, Mr. Sagar Gwallani, Founder & CEO, URBN, briefs about their brand philosophy, innovations, design, and growth plans.
Please brief us about URBN’s latest product portfolio and how it fared in FY2025-26.
URBN specializes in charging and power solutions such as power banks, chargers, cables, wireless charging devices, travel accessories, and power hubs. In FY2025-26, we also strengthened our presence across e-commerce, quick commerce, and offline retail channels. Being backed by a manufacturing ecosystem allows us to bring innovations to market faster while maintaining strict quality control.
Do you have a specialized product category?
If yes, please elaborate.
Power banks remain our flagship category. From ultra-compact everyday power banks to high-capacity models capable of charging laptops and multiple devices, our portfolio addresses a wide range of user requirements. What differentiates us is our product-first approach where every product is developed with a strong focus on battery quality, charging efficiency, thermal management, safety, and user experience.
What are the latest technologies and market trends in the product segments you operate?
Key trends power solutions space include faster charging protocols, higher power delivery capabilities, GaN technology, wireless charging, and multi-device charging solutions. Another significant development is the adoption of Qi2 wireless charging technology, which improves charging efficiency and alignment. URBN has been among the early adopters of Qi2 in India, and we are preparing to introduce our first Qi2.2-enabled products in the coming weeks. Another major trend is consumers increasingly want compact accessories that occupy less space while delivering higher performance.
What are the opportunities and challenges in the segments you operate?
India’s growing smartphone user base and increasing technology and quality-awareness present a tremendous opportunity. The biggest challenge remains the competition from the low-cost grey market products that draw away customers who are price-sensitive with low awareness. A grey market charger or power bank may look similar to standard product, but often lack battery quality, circuit protection, thermal management, and long-term reliability. Educating consumers about these cheap products is important.
What differentiates you as a brand?
URBN being a factory-backed brand has the advantage of having better control over design and quality. Our teams intensely focus on product design, engineering, testing, quality validation and reliability testing before reaching consumers. This direct connection and control enables us to innovate faster, maintain tighter quality standards, and continuously improve our products based on real consumer feedback.
What is your supply channel structure and how do you enable your partners?
We follow a strong omnichannel strategy with presence across online marketplaces, quick commerce platforms, large-format retail, regional distributors, and independent retail stores. Our relationship with channel partners extends beyond transactions. We provide product training, marketing support, and regular engagement to help partners understand better the technology behind our products. One of the most encouraging indicators for us is the growing number of customers who specifically ask for URBN products by name when they visit retail stores, reflecting the trust the brand has built over time.
What are your future plans?
We want to expand our portfolio across emerging wireless technologies, including Qi2 and Qi2.2 products and innovative products for travellers and consumers, while strengthening our range of high-powered chargers that can seamlessly charge smartphones, tablets, laptops, wearables, and other connected devices. From a market perspective, we will continue expanding our retail and distribution footprint, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. As a factory-backed brand, we will leverage our manufacturing expertise to bring meaningful innovation to the market and create products that solve real consumer needs. We want to build URBN into India’s most trusted charging and power solutions brand.
