Avneet Singh Marwah is the CEO of Super Plastronics Pvt. Ltd (SPPL), headquartered in Noida. Under his leadership, SPPL has introduced five distinguished consumer durable brands in India, including Kodak TV, Thomson, Blaupunkt TV, Westinghouse and White-Westinghouse, solidifying SPPL as one of the largest manufacturers of consumer durables in the country.
SPPL is among the few companies in India to partner with Google and launch Android TVs at an extremely affordable price. Just recently, they launched their QLED TVs with Google TV, making SPPL the first manufacturer to do so.
During an overwhelming chat with Mobility Magazine, Mr. Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO of Super Plastronics Pvt. Ltd., took us through the journey of manufacturing in India and the road ahead.
Present Scenario of TV segment
The present scenario is that the trend is completely shifting towards OTT and consumers are shifting to smart TV and today the highest selling size is mid premium segment and market has shifted form 43 55 to 65 inches and 4K technology is matured, lot of content, Dolby Atmos DTS and these are the technologies that are getting matured and more adoption at consumer level. So, I feel that brands which are evolving will give better experience to viewers. Kodak has the best technology whether it is Google TV, QLED, DOLBY ATMOS. Especially sound output plays a very vital role in India, so these are the things that are focussing on.
Scope of manufacturing
The scope of manufacturing is growing in India especially when the government has decided to ban CBU in India and therefore there was a path breaking improvement in CRTs. However last year there was a bad growth in industry as per Counterpoint. So, manufacturers who are just assembling the product, it will be difficult for them as TV is not a hardware product any more and more than hardware there has to be in depth software and that’s really important and you really need to have certified software to have the best of the sales as the consumers are awake in what they want to buy.
Right kind of investments are very important in manufacturing and only those manufacturers can succeed and survive which are taking the right path of investing in technology.

Innovation is AI that is key with the help of AI accuracy will be more. quality will improve. A Lot of parameters AI can improve and intervene, and lot of manufacturing tools have come to give better results, this is the next set of things that most manufacturers will be used.
The rate of manufacturing and accuracy is also decreasing with AI and quality is increasing. Apart from that small manufacturing keeps on happening and the kind of improvement over the line or any new trend that is happening or any reason why it is happening on the line solving the issues.
Impact of shortage of chips
Shortage of chips took place as everyone was glued to the devices whether it was tablets, laptops, etc so huge spike was there so chip manufacturing companies had a shortage. However, in 2023 the chips were overproduced and 2024 again things are looking fine.
PLI Scheme
PLI schemes are not there for TV manufacturers, however it is there for semiconductors and recently a top organisation has invested huge. Open cell the announcement a lot of things are going on and inauguration of open cell, the factory set up will also start.

Our TVs undergo 200 tests, and we are getting the approvals on TVS we are trying to improve. Currently we are having one more lab for testing. We are investing hugely in 2024 so that we can evaluate the technologies on sound and video.
Future Envisaged
Kodak brings premium technology TV at affordable pricing and that’s the forte of the brand. We are working on high end technologies and we can disrupt the pricing of these technologies and how well we can launch in consumer affordability and we also encourage if any of the Korean or Japanese is offering 50 inch, then we also come up with 55 inch with something similar and this has worked for us for premium high end and larger size and that’s where our main focus is.
