What opportunity you see for mobile chargers and what is your current focus?
Chargers are in a great demand because today many gadgets including mobile phones, cameras, mobile accessories, etc need charging. The outbreak of Covid has pushed up the demand for the accessories further. In 2022, our main focus will be on providing chargers, powerbanks and data cables; our target is to make 2 million chargers per month. Our mission is to offer superior designs, quality and value-for-money to the customers backed by offering great service. The next disruptor in chargers segment is the gallium nitride or GAN technology that provides high performance charging in a lightweight, compact design. GAN technology can charge MacBookPro 15-inch up to 50% in 60 minutes; fast charge iPhone 8 or later versions up to 50% in 30 minutes; and iPad pro up to 50% in 60 minutes. Its intelligent power sharing technology senses and safely delivers the most efficient charge to each device. Currently, we have a wide range of normal chargers; GAN chargers that can charge up to 65 W; and Vook chargers.
How is the powerbank market?
As people often keep on travelling and moving from one place to other, the powerbank has become a must-have gadget for many users. Currently the customers are inclining more to have magnetic and UCPD powerbanks.
What challenges you see in Make in India and what support do you expect from the government?
Driven by the PLI scheme, components of smartphones too will be made in India with brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, etc, in association with local manufacturers, having already started manufacturing in India. Indian market has a lot of scope and India has the potential to become a major exporter, as the labour is cheap. However, at present, China still remains the major manufacturer and supplier of electronics components and products, so brands across the world including those in India are largely dependent on Chinese vendors for components, device designing and manufacturing. Manufacturing in India has been growing, but we are still in the assembling stage for most products. Only phone chargers, cables, powerbanks, etc are now being made in India. To accelerate the domestic manufacturing process, the government should create a powerful ecosystem where most of the essential components and raw materials will be available locally and take several strategic steps shore up the environment.
What is your aim in the next 2 years?
By mid-2022, we want to launch neckbands which we want to manufacture with our own moulds in India. The Glorious’ state-of-the-art manufacturing setup is equipped with the best-in-class in-house designing, moulding, finishing & packaging. We have dedicated and professionally managed teams to offer the best marketing support and after-sales-services.
