The Income Tax department is conducting searches at several premises linked to Chinese mobile companies across the country. The IT officials initiated the searches on the Chinese mobile firms morning after they came across several alleged violations by them.
The searches, according to sources, are underway at several manufacturing units, corporate offices and go downs of the Chinese mobile phone firms.
In August this year, Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE was searched by the IT department in Gurugram. Several tax violations were found by the department.
Recently, several Chinese firms involved in the business of mobile phones, loan applications and transport business have been raided by the central investigative agencies.
The smartphone companies were allegedly violating rules and norms to evade taxes and were on the radar of several probe agencies, including the I-T Department.
Earlier, some Chinese firms which were allegedly running mobile loan application and transport business, were raided by the government agencies. Now, few more firms have come into their radar.
Basically the manufacturing units were being raided along with a few corporate houses.
ZTE, a Chinese firm which deals in telecom equipment manufacturing in Gurugram, was on the radar of the IT Department.
