Philips has listed the Philips S398 on its country-specific website. There is no word on the launch date or the pricing of the smartphone as of yet. The device comes as a successor to the Philips S388, which was launched in August.
The dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) Philips S398 runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box, and features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display. The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor alongside 1GB of RAM.
The smartphone additionally sports 8GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). The Philips S398 bears an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with CMOS sensor and LED flash, while also housing a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
It also includes a 2040mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 8 hours of talk time on 2G and up to 4 hours of talk time on 3G. Connectivity options on the Philips S398 include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, and 3G (WCDMA). It measures 143.7×71.1×9.65mm, and weighs around 170 grams. The smartphone is officially listed in just Black colour variant.
