During an interaction with Mobility magazine, Mr. Venkat Rao, Founder & Managing Director at Flash Solutions Pvt Ltd, elucidates the latest trends in the distribution business, the services they offer, their brand positioning, their future plans.
What are the latest trends in the distribution business in India?
Flash Solutions carries forward all its legacy learnings into day-to-day decision making and operations. We understand market patterns and hypothesize situations to arrive at objectivity in business operations. We strongly believe in empowering people across levels and standardization of operations to achieve scale.
Flash operates in more than 450 retail outlets on a franchise model, with stores being present across the smaller towns of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Over the years, there has been an increase in D2C business by brands, reducing their dependence on distributors, especially for OTC and commodity products. Moreover, there has been the emergence of omnichannel selling.
Another trend is the diversification of technology and innovation-led products rather than undifferentiated products.
Distribution is the main forte of Flash Solutions and the company always endeavours for the customer centric approach.
What are the various strategies adopted in distribution at Flash Solutions?
At Flash, we follow a very strict brand policy of selling technology & solutions and not products. All the components of the offering, be they machines, films, or the ERP, are directly managed by Flash. Flash has always delivered value to every brand it has partnered with ever since its inception by establishing partner networks, augmenting manpower, increasing brand presence and enhancing customer sales. The brand offers a high ROI to the offline channel and the on-demand solutions, reducing investment in stocks and dead inventory.
Indian distribution system has undergone a radical change for movement of goods from Factory to Consumers. This change comes with a new challenge of being able to identify and work with partners of impeccable capability and integrity. Flash, through its internal scoring models and credit analytics has identified and onboarded India-wide network of partners. We aspire to be a brand which partners prefer to work unconditionally.

Flash boasts of its strong focus on automation and technology enablement. It also has an established team of application developers, paving the way for long-term planning and sustainability. The brand focusses on affordability programs like onboarding of products on leading retail consumer finance services companies. Moreover, it is also into alpha selling to leading sellers of Amazon, Flipkart etc. It’s into B2B Logistics Services through established India-wide logistics partners.
How do you maintain relationships with partners?
Flash aspires to deepen relationships with brands and partners and establish itself as a dominant player in the space. We have always felt that the partners are like our family and we believe in maintaining a very good relationship with them.
Flash also has a vertical which has been distributing products for many years. This gives us the advantage of a great understanding of what works for the channel. Flash has wide network and a leadership with vast experience and we have earned the trust of our partners.
What new innovations you are likely to come up with?
We have recently introduced Flashgard, one stop on demand cut solution for all gadget protection. A technology-enabled distribution house established that has worked with over 10 established consumer brands across mobility, wearables, IOT, consumer durables, charging, lifestyle, accessories, projectors, televisions, and sound.
Flashgard has a wide range of back skins and 3 models in front protection made of nano technology TPU material which gives 7X protection with high optical clarity, self-healing, oleophobic and uv protection providing a virtually invisible and impregnable protection layer. Our front protection range include titan, alpha and shield.
Canvas Play is the on-demand print and cut, a personalised solution for back skins in different types of lamination patterns where you can print your picture which matters a lot with different type of lamination patterns. Be it your special memories or artwork, you can get vivid prints of the images on the skins.
The other innnovation is anti-microbial spray which protects devices from all types of viruses, including COVID-19 for a year.
Where do you place yourself in the next 2 years?
All these years, we have positioned ourselves as one who sells technology. We expect the market to continue its growth trend and we are focused on positioning ourselves well to capitalise on the future growth.
