JMax Mobile is the leading mobile brands in India. During an exclusive interaction with Mobility Magazine, Mr. Sunil Jethwani, Founder & MD, JMax Mobile talks in detail regarding the brand, its policy and how it has been able to sustain in the market for almost two decades.
1. You have been in the business of mobiles for about two decades. How have you seen the evolving landscape?
I have seen the keypad mobile market in India evolve in many ways over the past two decades. When I first started, keypad mobiles were the only type of mobile phone available. They were expensive and had limited functionality, but they were still a status symbol. As the market grew, keypad mobiles became more affordable and their functionality improved. They became the go-to choice for people who wanted a basic mobile phone that was reliable and easy to use.
In recent times, with 4G integration in feature phones, people who can’t afford expensive smartphones can enjoy digital India evolution with keypad mobile phones. keypad mobile phones are tools to empower the lower strata of society.
With UPI facility in keypad phones, this segment has miles to go, it is going to change the industry looking at “Feature phones”.
I believe that the keypad mobile market will continue to evolve in the years to come. As smartphones become more affordable and rich with features, keypad mobiles will become more specialized. They will be used by people who want a simple and convenient device, or by people who need a phone that is affordable, durable, and reliable.
I am excited to see how the keypad mobile market evolves in the future and I am confident that they will continue to be popular with a certain segment of users.
2. Discuss the wide range of products?
Jmax motto is “Join Maximum”. Jmax wants to empower and maximize the power of digitalization to every segment of society. We have a wide range of feature phones starting from Rs. 799/- with 1150mAh battery to 4G feature phones.
Jmax mobile phones are designed to fit regular rural requirements our product has a big torch, power saving mode, and also supports multiple Indian languages. Apart from mobile phones, there is a growing trend for mobile phone accessories products which is a lifestyle product. Jmax has expanded its wings to lifestyle products as well, right from the neckband which is a basic requirement in the rural household to high-end TWS. We also have a smart power bank, durable charging cables, and a smartwatch.
We are planning to launch more innovative products in both categories very soon.
3. Discuss how Jmax is adapt with the changing trends?
“Change is the only constant”, adaptability to change is in our DNA of Jmax. Starting from the MD-Top leadership in an organization to the bottom-line force (TSM) we all have adapted to the market changes from time to time. Over the period we have emerged as one of the leading players in the mobile phones & mobile accessories industry, where big names are struggling to survive Jmax has cut-through competition and emerged as a leading player.
4. What is the underlining statement of the brand? What is the role with distributors?
Jmax stands for “Join Maximum”, we keep on introducing in-pack offers for customers such free wallet with our Deluxe 9 model and a free pen with our Gold series mobile phone. Jmax offers maximum benefits with its product for both customers and channel partners. Jmax products are placed in 50000+ retail outlets across the country via 300+ channel partners.
5. Explain the route ahead envisaged?
As of now, we have invested more in developing distribution networks across the country. In the coming years, we have plans to bring more products in the mobile accessory segment and home music systems. We are also working on 4G feature phone.
