India’s electronics manufacturing sector to employ 4.5 mn people in the coming years
Dear Readers, Greetings from the Mobility Magazine!
The Indian electronics manufacturing sector currently employs close to 2 million people and the govt aspires to take that figure to about 4.5 million in the next few years with initiatives like local chip manufacturing. Semiconductor is the next big space for the country to grow, said S. Krishnan, Secretary, IT Ministry, during a virtual fireside chat at the ‘India Digital Summit’ (IDS) 2024, organised by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) in partnership with MeitY, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Union Ministry of Tourism, UIDAI, Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), Government eMarketplace, In-Space and ‘Skill India Digital’.
The government has emphasised the importance of leveraging emerging technologies across various sectors to achieve goals, advocating active participation and development in the digital landscape over the coming years. The government aims to focus on regulating and fostering a conducive environment for the electronics industry’s growth, emphasising the importance of cybersecurity in this endeavour. We wish India would soon become a global manufacturing hub.
Mobility Magazine wishes all the readers, partners and vendors a successful and prosperous FY2024-25.
