Shervan Electronics & Cables Pvt Ltd (formerly, Mandeep Cables Pvt Ltd) based in Noida (UP) is a Make in India OEM/ ODM manufacturer of top class USB data cables, earphones, headsets and TWS. During an interaction with Mobility Magazine, Mr. Mankirat Singh, Director, Shervan Electronics, talks about the inception of their company, its focus on Make in India and how their journey has been so far.
Being one of the oldest cable manufacturers, please tell us your journey and lessons you have learned.
We have been in the cable manufacturing business for nearly 25 years. We started manufacturing the USB data cables 8 years back. With strategic focus on R&D, we have been able to inculcate Continuous Innovation as one of the fundamental principles of our culture. We focused on innovation not only in terms of introducing the latest products in India, but also in the processes integral to manufacturing. In terms of products, we were among the first to manufacture 100W cables, C to Aux connectors (with DAC chipset), 2-in-1 and 4-in-1 PD cables, etc. In terms of processes, the right copper configuration to optimum and quality raw materials, from manufacturing process flow to quality control and check points, etc have been designed to create a seamless start to end flow.
As a young leader, what has been your experience with innovation? What are your USPs as a manufacturer?
Belonging to the new generation, I had the opportunity to have exposure to the new technologies and develop a future-oriented approach, compared to the previous generations. After I joined, we made innovation a part of our thought process and it helped us to aim at something better always and it has been helping us to stand apart from others. To talk about our USPs, with more than two decades of experience, our manufacturing process is tailored to meet the ever-increasing demand of our huge and varied client-base. With an ever-expanding product portfolio and extensive quality checks, we deliver products of international quality. We pay special attention to controlling the quality of our raw materials, quality checks, and maintaining excellent customer service.
What opportunity do you see in Make in India?
Make in India is a great initiative by the government of India and our PM, Mr. Narendra Modi. It will definitely be a shot-in-the-arm for all the domestic manufacturers to bridge the gap with China and become a strong global supplier. It all depends on how the Indian manufacturers grab this opportunity and utilize it for their benefit. It also gives us the opportunity to build up scale and capability, not only in terms of manufacturing but also in terms of developing new technologies which enables us to rely less on technology transfers from other countries!
What criteria do you see before you choose a brandwhile manufacturing for them?
All our customers are important for us, but yes, there should be sync between the thought process of a brand and that of ours. We love to work with start-ups because that gives us the opportunity to build up their portfolio. The experience we have has given us ample intelligence which we can put to better use and help the upcoming brands.
How do you position your company? What are your future plans?
We are basically the trend-setters in the industry that we compete in. We love to experiment with new technologies and bring in the latest products before others. And we will continue to do that in future. We have already started manufacturing and supplying C type Hubs and power strips. We believe these two products to high growth business. In future, our core focus will be on developing better USB data cables, C-type hubs and power strips.
