Bajaj Auto wishes to expand the reach of its Chetak electric scooter to more Indian cities. The company has recently announced on its social media channels that its battery-powered scooter, Bajaj Chetak E scooter will go on sale in Nagpur soon.
The Bajaj Chetak e-scooter is powered by a 3-kW electric motor offering 16 Nm of peak torque. Its lithium-ion battery comes in with a 3 year/50,000 km warranty. Charging is via a 15A electric socket and takes around and hour for 25 percent charge and upto 5 hours for a full charge. Offered in two modes of Eco and Sport, range stands at 95 kms and 85 kms respectively on single charge. Rivals include TVS iQube, Ather 450 range, upcoming Ola Electric scooter, etc.
The Bajaj electric scooter is offered in two trims – Urbane and Premium. While the lower Urbane trim has been priced at ₹1.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), the Premium trim retails at a slightly higher ₹1.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
The scooter features a 3.8kW motor which is juiced up from a non-removable 3kWh IP67 lithium-ion battery pack. The company claims that this battery pack is capable of delivering a full charge range of 95km (Eco mode). The scooter has a top speed of 70kmph. The scooter can be charged using an under-seat built-in charger which can be connected to a 5A power socket.
The company has commenced registrations, while the bookings are also expected to start soon. Bajaj Auto already sells the scooter in other major Indian cities including Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
