Q. As a provider of mobile phones, what is your present focus?
A. Presently, we are focusing on rightly positioning our brand. We are trying to explore our products, find what is short and how to improve their features & functionality, both in both high end & low-end smartphones and feature phones. If our products are good they are bound to sell. And our feature phones loaded with lots of useful features.
Q. What impact do you find from GST on your business and partners?
A. We do not see any significant impact of GST on our business and partners. Some dealers and distributors are facing problems, but those partners who know how to adjust and adapt quickly to the system have no problems, they are easily going ahead.
Q. What are going to be your new launches for the festive season?
A. Currently, we have 17 to 20 running models in the market under Kara which include Android phones. In the coming two months, we are going to launch around 10 new models, including 4G feature phones. Mostly we launch of phones in house.
Q. Can you throw some light on your channel promotion activities?
A. We constantly keep changing our channel policy in line with the changing market requirements and demand. Partners play very important role in each region depending upon the conditions there. We conduct regular dealer meets, tours, education programs, etc to understand the issues and constraints the partners are facing and to tailor our channel policy to give them the best possible motivation. We observed, in pleasure tours, the partners are willing give better market feedback in an informal atmosphere, which they may not give in formal meetings and conferences. Recently, we had a tour meet in Goa, which gave us very interesting feedback. In future, we plan to have more such tour meetings.
Q. What are the other methods you get market feedback?

A. Our national distributor is always one of the important sources or our feedback system, because he is in direct contact with the partners below the line and he knows exactly how the partners feeling. Next, our front-end sales personnel are an important source of information for they are in direct contact with the end-users and retailers. They give good feedback about customers’ needs and complaints, which helps us to update our devices and style of operations.
Q. What are the special schemes and activities you are launching for the upcoming festive season?
A. For festive season, we are launching very attractive schemes to motivate partners and boost their sales. During the festive season, partners naturally have high sales, but we want them to sell double of what they usually sell through our festive schemes. With experience, we understood that sharing a little of our profit with partners and customers, greatly increases their loyalty towards our brand and products. In future, we want to establish KARA as a premium brand for feature phones and smart phones in the Indian market.
