Sikkim Forays into Make in India

This issue details the government’s declaration to meet the $300 billion electronics manufacturing target, representing a massive 20-25 times increase in almost a decade, according to Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
The State initiative covers the state of Sikkim which has an age-old tradition of carpet weaving, handloom products, wood carving and thank a painting activity mostly carried out by rural weavers and artisans. These industries have been preserved under the Directorate of Handloom and Handicrafts and its numerous centers spread all over the state. The State Government will help design, innovate, develop, and popularize such traditional industries following the contemporary market trends.
